U3A Dacorum, Reg. Charity 1012612, is a learning co-operative of older people from Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted, Tring and surrounding areas. It enables members to share in educational, creative and leisure activities.
The U3A is an organisation where retired or semi-retired people from all walks of life and of all ages (generally 50+) meet to expand their knowledge, share interests and acquire new skills in their chosen subjects. A shared interest in learning leads to new friendships based on expanded social experience. All the U3A activities are planned and undertaken by the members on a completely voluntary basis.
U3A Dacorum was started in 1990. We now number more than 1300 members who, for the cost of a membership fee and a small group attendance fee, can participate in as many study groups as they wish. In addition, members can attend the regular monthly meetings which include lectures by guest speakers on subjects of interest.

To join U3A Dacorum:
Step 1: Get an application form. This can be done in any of the following ways:
- Download an "rtf" file. This format is readable by most versions of Word. Click here to open this format.
- Download a "doc" file. This is the normal form of Word file. Click here to open this format.
- Download a "pdf" file. This is a form of file that requires a fairly common but non standard 'PDF' reader (see below for a link to install the (free) reader). It is also the largest file. Click here to open this file.
- Send an email to You will be sent the Word format file as an attachment.
Step 2: Once you have printed the application form, please complete and return it to the Membership Secretary at 31 Washington Avenue, Hemel Hempstead, HP2 6AB. Tel: 01442 211289.
