Website
The new Website is now 'stable'. However, if you find somthing that doesn't look right or is difficult to use, please send me an email (my address is at the bottom of the page).
I have added a couple more photographs of our activities to the photographs page. However, some of the existing photographs are 'elderly'. I need some more up to date ones. My plan is to add any new ones to the top of the page. When the page becomes too large so that it takes too long to show, I will move some from the bottom to a second page. In this way, the most recent will be at the top of the page but we will not lose any until there are just too many.
The 'Groups' page now includes the dates for the next 3 months. I hope to be able to continue to take proof read version of the Digest as soon as it so that the page includes as much information as possible.
There is now a 'Return to Top of Page' button on all the longer pages and the processing behind this has been changed to be much simpler. You should note that this button takes you to the top of the content not to the header.
The web pages now react to a change in size of the browser window (a facilty requested by members who have high resolution screens). Note however that, if the window becomes smaller, the text may also become smaller.
If you have any ideas for additional facilities, please let me know. Some of the things that have been suggested are:
- Include the group meeting dates in the diary. It would almost certainly be too confusing if I just put all the groups onto the calendar. However, I am looking into the possibility of being able to select which groups to show. This is technically quite challenging.
- Change the way in which the 'Start' page works. I am not keen to put the 'usage' information on to the main home page and I don't really want to add to the navigation buttons (there are probably too many already). My current thoughts are that there should be a separate button on the Home page only, to navigate to an 'information' screen.
- Add contact information for the groups. Unfortunately, I had to reject this as it is not thought sensible to put this information on the Web, for security reasons.
I am also considering some other ideas:
- Providing a 'printer friendly' version of the diary. This will probably be combined with the inclusion of the meeting dates of selected groups
- Extending the Group information on the Groups page to include more information about the group meetings. Subjects, venues, etc.
- Putting the last update date for every page on the information page.
